Same problem for me. I have a Toshiba U305-S2804. I recently upgraded to
10.04 (via fresh install, not upgrade), and suddenly Ubuntu doesn't
recognise my external mic. In sound preferences, I have no option to
choose between inputs.
I upgraded ALSA to 1.0.23 last night (compiled from the source).

It appears that libberkeleydb-perl handles this itself, which was why
people run into issues where it tries to upgrade to 4.7 in preinst, but
the DB is already 4.8.

problem but solved by disabling metacity compositing and then replacing it with
xcompmgr.

When i start empathy (either through Ubuntu's integration applet or as a
standalone app) it does not allow me to login to any communcator
protocol. The status is displayed as offline and place where the icon
for changing status should be is blank.

upgraded XP to Windows 7 and it cleaned out the dual boot. No problem, I
wanted to make more space for Ubuntu. Changed the disk configuration to

Marius, thanks for reporting this crash. Unfortunately unless you can
reproduce the crash I'm not sure how to move the ticket forward: the
crash report shows that the crash occurred in gtkcolorsel, but
Transmission's source code doesn't reference that widget. It also stops
the crash report at that
