Sorry for bringing this up again, but I see quite similar symptoms on a
current natty install with kernel 2.6.37-5 and dbus 1.4.0-0ubuntu1 on a
DELL E6510 laptop (NVIDIA NVS 3100M). When I try to suspend on battery
(which fails because 2 tasks "fail to freeze"), dbus starts acting mad
and currently
(Please note: the debdiff above is now out-of-date; but can still be
used, and then just replace the file in debian/patches.)

After my upgrade to Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS, my /usr/lib/update-notifier
/update-motd-updates-available was bad, too. It actually exec'd itself,
hanging logins infinitely!
Reinstalling update-notifier-common using apt-get fixed it.

Actually I fail to see the security impact of this. If a user creates

Before add this line, my internal mic works fine, but, when i plug a
phone the sound does not mute laptop speakers.
After add this line, the speakers mute when i plug my phone and external
mic plugged works fine too.

Just installed UNE 10.10 Maverick on Acer Aspire 5100-3949 and saw this
bug. Same effect on screen.
Unity works correctly on this hardware after installing the xorg-edgers

I've tried multiple partition layouts, from the guided do it for me to
creating a separate /boot. Still fails.
The "grub-installer" from the shell cli isn't very helpful either, it
dies.
