I just realized that there exists the possibility to use a 12h mode analogue
clock. But you can only choose in digital clock mode. The analogue mode
disables the check box, but respects its setting.
So in the end this is a bug, don't disable the check box in analogue mode and
you're done.

I support entirely David's position: we committed to delivering an
userspace not requiring NEON, independently from the binary kernels or
the images directly in Ubuntu. This is true of both maverick and lucid.

Fair enough. Both the workarounds listed there are the right way to do
it, and it does seem like this is an issue with casper, which however
has logic to handle the case of NetworkManager, even though it doesn't
quite work properly. I will check whether it really still applies and
look for a fix ;)
