It's not only Synaptic that's affected. I had trouble using thoggen
because of the same problem.
How about a scrollable desktop? So that the two virtual desktops are
stacked one above the other and one can sort of click and drag the bare
desktop (avoiding any objects/files) and scroll?

Please tell me what is inComplete in my log file( Errorlog.zip file in
comment -1). So that I can provide it.
This will not fix with PPA module of alsa( I tried already). Still this
bug is there i can see the same issue for the following card. This bug I
can see from Ubuntu 9.04 till
rvgsd, I had the same issue too after updating but had to resort to
reinstalling power management via Kamal's PPA and the Linux packages.
See what kernel version you have by typing uname -a in a Terminal.

Same issue on an Acer 5515. I've done both upgrade from lucid and
complete install. I also tried Stefan's Suggestion (#9) and the "sudo
iwconfig eth1 power off" suggestion. Neither one works for me. If I boot
