Upon starting, the computer (a Dell desktop which has been through
several upgrades) stops booting, two lines after loading the crash
kernel. The screen goes dark and then the monitor into power save mode.
The only way to complete the boot is by doing it through the recovery

I also confirm this bug. It's still available in the distribution of
10.10 Maverick Meerkat.
This bug is known for two years now, magyar.ldf (version 1.5) is
released in 2006 (four years ago). I happily notify that with the newer
version, everything works fine. So please, release texlive-latex-bas
The patch itself is still appliable to the kernel. The complete source wont
compile due to changes in the kernel.
So if you download the source from linuxtv, and apply the patch manual it will
work (as it does here).

Same problem here, I've got an a4tech x7 xl-747H and after upgrading my
ubuntu to 10.10 the left click stopped working, Thank you so much for
the xinput trick, it worked for me!!! I hope this bug become fixed
It doesn't appear to have been completely fixed but the volume is no
longer at a maximum when I reboot now it is however still louder than
what it should be.

Strangely, a day later, I noticed I had no audio OUT. So I unpicked the
above package, and reinstalled all linux-alsa related components. NOW
there is an internal microphone and all is working.
The only thing Ive done _differently_ is to add the following into the
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
Thanks. Close firefox and run the following command in terminal.
metacity --replace
Then open firefox again and try it out.
