I've seen a few ALC888 regressions in 10.10 and I suspect this is because of
the new interpretation of SKU values. Could you see if the following helps you:
1) Run maverick without having any alsa driver overrides installed
2) Download and install

As Toki pointed out, now my own documents, which I produce using
pdflatex as well, have the same problem. If I print using the vieewer

Printing that page to PDF using firefox 3.6.10+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu3
on Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" produces a much better result. There
are still a few small errors, but it looks much better than the
attachment in comment #1.

not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you

I can confirm this bug for our mixed environment (Solaris servers using
zfs, and Ubuntu clients). It does seriously affect us, since the
behaviour of file creation is quite erratic (as far as I can see).

Unfortunately, this bug report only shows the VLC output. To further
isolate the problem, some more tests can be done, notably:
1/ Try to use VLC with a different video output method, especially the plain
X11 output.

You're right. This bug is a result of disabling OSS in maverick's
kernel. The sound in my tvtime didn't work with newly installed
maverick. But with oss4-* packages, the sound in tvtime started to work.

Meanwhile I was thinking about "nice but simple" ways to improve the
tomboy-autosync experience.
1) A "sync in progress" message is the easiest way to explain what
happens. Stupid users like me would not file bugs.

my eyes and shall be resolved as soon as possible. It's not a good thing

Hey Steve, thanks for your review. While the packages are wrong the fix
is relatively cheap and dpkg itself does not complain. So I would be in
favor for this fix. But if its rejected on the grounds that its the
packages that are broken then I will accepted that of course.

Yes it does work normally after compiling it for maverick (git tree)
with KMS disabled. All fine. So it might still be useful for others too.
