OK, installed from a freshly downloaded and burnt (to CD) ISO of 10.10
Netbook Remix.
On restart, all icons and words look good.
After running updates, all is still well.
Not sure what happened, but something must have become hosed in the
updates arena because the interface looks much different
Ubuntu 10.10 still freezes up after a few hours left alone.
Other than installing an unsupported kernel, what can I do to gather log
info to find the culprit?

I have the same problem after upgrading to Maverick 10.10 from 10.04.
My VNC server package is vnc4server.
This bug also happens in NXclient (No Machine client). That is, when I
type "d" in a terminal in a NXclient session, the terminal window is
minimized. There was no problem in Lucid 10.04.

I upgraded from 9.10 and I had no problem closing the lid on my laptop
or hitting the Suspend button. Now that I've updated to 10.04 I have a
few problems suspending. Sometimes the laptop freezes and eventually,
after a few seconds, comes back responsive. I can try to suspend

I was in Hotmail and wanted to reply to an email and whe I clicked on
the reply button the little round icon was spinning but the screen was
blane and the little round (browser?) kept going around but it never
