Im also experiencing this issue in Jaunty. Upgraded to Maverick and the
problem remains. Sometimes the problem happens during rsync, other times
when nothing is happening. I caught a kernel panic in console once, but
was unable to copy/paste it as it was only console. Nothing in dmesg or

Add me to the "me too" wagon, but in my case the system completely
freezes, the monitor turns dark and the host system would stop
responding to arps/pings
The last line in the kernel log before the system hung and hard to hard reset
it is the following:

This just happened to me with a fresh server 10.04.1 install when I
pulled in the normal updates (which included a new kernel).
Why is this not a critical bug??? I run a headless Ubuntu server, I
update it, and it does not reboot? I find that highly critical. Luckily
my server itself is not critic
Dean, that's because libjasper1 isn't in ia32-libs. That should be a
simple fix...

I hoped this would have been fixed for the 10.10 RC but still not
working for me. Is this going to be fixed for the final release of
10.10? It seems like a severe problem to me for many (office) users of
Ubuntu.
