implemented in Gentoo for the 2.6.32 kernel series. Since this patch is

Yes, this is not surprising. The IDs are only present in the sourceforge
driver, not in the current upstream tree. So MAverick cannot support it.

Both printconf and foomatic-gui do not work correctly with current
Foomatic any more. They show many printer/driver pairs for which
Foomatic cannot provide a PPD file because either the driver XML file
has no or an empty command line prototype or the driver XML file does
not exist and the printer X
The puzzle seems to be solved (at least for the s12). When I switch the
S12 from "AHCI" mode to "compat mode " (in the bios) I get 30s OOo
upgrade times and no keypressing needed anymore.
I wonder if the mini9 (who presumably has the same chipset) has also a
AHCI set in the bios as sata mode?

I have reproduced your issue; it appears that the mysql instance is not
started until after the bacula-director-mysql configuration step is
completed (which will obviously cause this step to fail)
If you allow the installation to complete and then re-configure bacula
after mysql has started you sh
