No, I have not tried to install medibuntu. I forgot MP4 is not a free protocol.
But I acted like a newbie who checks system on Ubuntu CD before installing.
I usually advise to newbies to test with a live session if Ubuntu works on

Compiz has a plugin that can prevent windows from getting offscreen. It does
not restrict the cursor though, and I don't know about desktop icon placement.

Same for me: issue is fixed on Maverick though still exists on Ubuntu

I just found a workaround: resize your window to a differente size at
least once and the problem goes away. You can even bring back the window
to the original size afterwards and it will keep working.

After yesterday's updates ( including many of the kde packages and a new
kernel version (2.6.32-25) ), I do not seem to have this problem
anymore. Anyone else noticed that?

Ohh, hi Colin, sorry I missed your first 2 messages.
I have a few remarks:
1. won't the timing be different on Maverick ? You still need to be able
to reproduce the problem first.
2. Would it not be a good idea to build a ppa for Lucid so people can
test that ?

@Colin : Hmmm the interessting thing is, that burg works great. I
compared the mbr with burg to the bad mbr with grub and it seems that
the changes to the mbr didn't influence burg. Whatever changes the mbr,
burg with the '--alt' option seems to be immune.
