I tried to use dd if=/dev/zero bs=100 of=ControlPanel/test/foo and
ctrl+c'd it after a few seconds. 144M file appeared under windows but dd
hung completely. I couldn't even kill -9 the PID as root. I had to
reboot Ubuntu with shutdown -r now.

We are using nobrl in a production environment with 3k workstations.
This fixed also problems with CIFS clients on low bandwidth connections.
There a kernel bug led to corrupted files by race conditions between
application writes and the kernel flushing buffers in kernel mode -
without looking at

Yes, the upgrade to Lucid apparently uninstalled cups-pdf.
After re-installing, I had to go to System -> Administration ->
Printing, click Add, and there I could select "Generic CUPS-PDF
Printer". After clicking on "Forward", the window seemed to hang at a

Thanks for the update. I no longer have access to the laptop I detected
this on, so I am unable to re-test. Seeing how noone else have reported
any follow-ups on this bug since I reported it, it can probably be
