I checked recently and decided to try the workaround in Luca's post. I
couldn't find C-State settings in the bios, but did find "Intel
SpeedStep" which I disabled, assuming it was another name for a related
option. So far the system has been running without lockups, so there may
be some connection

I'm using Lucid UNE on a imac G4 (iLamp)
Before the final release of Lucid it was working.
I can workaround the bug disabling KMS on nouveau driver using the
modeset=0 module param.

I've attached a 5th drive direct to the mainboards SATA controller and
installed Ubuntu there.
I then installed the latest 2.6.34rc7 mainline kernel from the PPA and
get the same behaviour, but some additonal info logged in dmesg:

The ThinkPad actually has a tiny hard radio-kill button! Not just fn-f5,
but another one in front of the machine!
Sorry for that, -- hope someone can google this if they later are as
stupid as me. I thought fn+f5 was thinkpad's own hacked up hard radio
kill, but not so!

Using seamonkey firefox-3.6 firefox-3.7 seamonkey-browser all ask to save as
.bashrc but save as bashrc
However Epiphany and Chromium ask to save as a normal file. Chromium uses

Rebuilt Mythbuntu 10.04 and Xubuntu 10.04 from scratch and installed
only updated hal, libhal1 & libhal-storage1 (all version
0.5.14-0ubuntu6) from lucid-proposed, rebooted -> bug fixed.
