Temporary Fix add this line to your excludes setting under the compiz
manager:
(type=Desktop) | type=Desktop
Now you can get inverted windows straight after but and you do not have
to logout and login again.
As a side note when you try to add setting to the excludes box you can
capture the windo

[lucid with apparmor 2.5-0ubuntu3]
Apparently apparmor profiles get loaded too late in the boot process to
confine all processes that have a profile defined.
Either /etc/init.d/apparmor sho

On a Dell Latitude D400 laptop, kernel 2.6.32-20 worked fine but the two most
recent kernel releases cause a hard lockup on boot.
2.6.32-21 and 2.6.32-22 both tested and confirmed to lockup on boot every time
at the same point.

had the same thing happen in 10.04 with ibus. The keyboard did not
appear on the toolbar. After I did a full reboot it appeared.
running 'ps axw | grep ibus' it appears that the service is not starting
until you reboot.

I am using an ASUS X59GLseries laptop with the latest 10.04 lucid. I am
experiencing some trouble with the volume up/down and volume mute keys. The
problem is that the effect of pressed keys is being felt after a lag of about
~20 seconds, and that's when the volume meter appears on
