I confirm this bug is still present, it is really annoying, but it is easy to
solve, just run gdmsetup, unlock, and then plays with selects and buttons until
that file is created.
So gdm is happy and the warning disappear.

But note, Takkat, that the Sourceforge testdisk app did in fact solve
the problem I describe in this thread, whereas it didn't resolve yours.
Has the latter now been resolved after the update to GRUB2
(1.98-1ubuntu6) ?...

By the way, I tried kernel 2.6.34-020634rc6-generic from kernel-ppa as
recommended somewhere in Bug #406515, but only the messages in the
kernel log go away, brightness is still not controllable. So it seems to
be a different issue.

Ok, the problem is that I cannot reproduce it here - so I would like to
give it someone who can really test it.
Can you please download widelands and then go into the real game and
press 'F'. This should do a fullscreen toggle using
SDL_WM_ToggleFullScreen too. Can you please check if this works

Here's the debug log. I see a lot of debug-level notices about missing
methods, but it doesn't seem to be leading to any actual errors, like
this:

32-bit Ubuntu 10.04 for me. I performed the same install on 500GB drives
that I had done successfully on the Dell 860 with 250GB drives last
night, and it failed with the Invalid Argument message. As strange as it
sounds, the 500GB drives is the only common denominator. I zeroed and
ran mdadm ---ze
This also happens without using the fglrx driver.
