Linux (linux-image-2.6.32-16-generic AMD64 2.6.32-16.25) fails to read
GPT(EFI) partition table created by both GNU parted and OSX diskutil.
Test case:
1. dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda count=128
2. parted:
a. mklabel gpt
b. mkpart primary fat 0 50
c. quit
3. partpro
A better way to boot 2.6.32-16 is to modify grub.cfg to remove splash and quiet.
Since this had happened earlier in Karmic alpha, just wondering if this is
something unavoidable.

I think your problem is that you use own_window_type desktop. This just sets
the _NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE_DESKTOP atom, which apparently metacity and beryl

Today I tested if using a different Phonon backend would make any
difference. I tried GStreamer, I apt-getted phonon-backend-gstreamer and
rebooted. PowerTOP still kept complaining about my audio device being
active 100% of the time, so it didn’t make any difference.

I don't think this is a duplicate of bug 528324. If it was a duplicate,
using xulrunner 1.9.2 should resolve it but it doesn't appear to do so.

I doubt this is a Phonon (and thus backend, Xine/GSt) issue; it looks
like either knotify or kmix are periodically probing the control
element. Can you close kmix to verify?

Can this be confirmed as the cause of this error? Has anyone used

This bug is fixed for me in Lucid, using pxlcolor driver for a Dell 3100cn. I
