I am experiencing that this is not just a hidden error. My Gnome-Do
Docky is badly affected. It seems that it starts up a double process
which causes the dock to disappear at random times, and sometimes not at
all at startup. (a random behaviour). This is worked around by opening
the process manage
I don't think we should pursue a solution that has "normal users" doing
one thing and "advanced users" stuck with a terminal. There must be a
solution that "normal users" find easy to use and "advanced users"
appreciate.

For the Lucid cycle all the panel icons are named with -panel endings.
But for Lucid+1 , when the symbolic icon librvg work is done , the icons will

I have a similar issue, except that my Synaptic package manager does NOT
have proxy setup. My Update Manager still won't allow me to update.

I should have updated this bug. I kept repeating the upgrade process and
eventually it worked OK I think. Note that now on initial boot or
restart from hibernation the system crashes, but reset sorts this.

OK, seems there is something wrong with the volume monitor then. If you
do "pidof gvfs-gdu-volume-monitor" in a Terminal, do you get a number as
output or nothing?
- If you got a number, copy&paste this command into a terminal:

Problem is that it can't find whatever it thinks the default DM should
be - in my case, gdm-2.20, and so errors out.
My solution was to symlink the filename it was searching for (gdm-2.20)
to the actual binary name (gdm) in /usr/sbin, and it passes configure
correctly.
