Scott mentioned that upstart is not as dependent on ppoll/pselect as it
once was so it shouldn't be a problem anymore.

I just did some testing on this bug with lucid 20100216 desktop iso
64bit loopback mounted from hd via grub2.
with current lucid graphics drivers:
stock blender (2.49): freeze on the second rotate back after also rotating the
cube in blenders 3D window. no ctrl+alt+F1, but sysrq+K works
I added the links to related projects.
UI-Improvements is validated by the fact that winetricks is the only
easy way to turn on font anti-aliasing in wine (BADLY NEEDED in Ubuntu.)

I have the same problem in 9.10 with x64. I tried building the latest
e1000 driver from the Intel website, as well with various options
suggested on this issue including rebuilding the drivers with make
CFLAGS_EXTRA=-DE1000_MASTER_SLAVE= with most of it's options, and
trying to force duplex/speed

I have the same problem (just says converting). I am running Ubuntu 9.10
64bit and my version of ConvertAll is 0.4.2. It used to work fine in
Ubuntu 9.04 64bit and then I upgraded to 9.10 and it stopped working. I
ultimately 'fixed' the problem though - I simply uninstalled 0.4.2 and
then installed

I was having the exact same issue described here, but my solution was
not quite the same so I thought I would add my comments.
After upgrading to 9.10 my suspend stopped working. Looking in the logs
pointed the finger at Pulse Audio and removing the pulseaudio package
fixed the problem as others

Yeah I tried Lucid a couple times. The problem was still there and it's
actually gotten worse for me as I no longer even have options for 4.1 or
above (5.1) with my USB sound card, before at least I could just turn it
down to avoid the screetching, now those options are gone
