Reliable mounting of NFS shares at boot is hard in Karmic, and error
messages always appear (bug #504224), but I haven't seen the rpc.statd
errors after the RC. (bug #431248) Are you using the latest updates?
Also, try with just 'defaults' as option.
Otherwise, see if this bug isn't a duplicate of
Walter, the solution for this kind of problems is model specific.
There has to be a quirk in the kernel that basically says: If the
computer is an Optiplex 745, then default to reboot=bios. So you are
better off opening a new bug report for Dell Precision 690 than to
comment on one for Optiplex 745

Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut
should be a small usability issue , in the default Ubuntu 9.10 install ,
that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't
be addressed as part of the project.
This is a feature request that rules it out
Bogus credentials with OpenVPN work fine, still it's a serious bug!
However the 'Connect automatically' option DOES NOT WORK. It seems that
it does nothing, instead of bringing up the VPN upon login.
