a _default_ and _clean_ install of Ubuntu 9.10 (in which the default IM
client is Empathy) if I install pidgin it 'steals' all my IM accounts
and details from Empathy. The first time I re-ran empathy it had lost

1. The problem encountered after I upgraded Ubuntu 9.04 to 10.04 (Lucid Lynx).
2. I've expected to have a nice icon with no background.

Yes, but please be patient, I need to create a live USB stick first.
Meanwhile I tested with different graphics hardware in emulators. The
problem doesn't exist there. Also I see the same behavior in Fedora 12.
So it seems it's an upstream bug in the X11 cirrus driver.

I'm speculating the "Connection refused" means the server name in whois
is wrong. There is a whois server at whois.aeda.net.ae which appears
authoritative. They offer a web lookup at http://whois.aeda.net.ae/ as
well.

Tonight I've upgraded my system to Lucid Lynx but this problem still
persists. I guess I'll install windows wifi driver using ndiswrapper,
maybe that would fix the problem.

Dug more here, and it's not metacity at fault at all.
Reproducion steps: graphical bootup disabled,It also happens in the
first GDM login session.If you click a name to start with, then the
accessibility button is no longer interactive for clicks for some reason, and
vice-versa,
The bug #491777 describes the flickering issue the users will experience if the
fix is applied as is.
I suggest fixing that bug first and then returning to this one.
