One thing you can do is to try to enable or disable various quirks to
see if it will make your system more stable. On my laptop I found that
disabling all the quirks made my computer functional, although I haven't
had the time to play with all the options yet. To disable them you can
edit /usr/shar

settings is now removed.
I can set the Obsidian cursor theme and it works perfectly under

the HAL scanner code doesn't correctly initialize the HAL context it
uses. This causes the libchipcard HAL scanner to not fail if the HAL
daemon isn't running. This in turn causes ugly error messages like those
reported in the following two bug reports:

the console config does not honor the settings in /etc/default/console-

I am having the same problem on both Ubuntu and Arch, so it seems to be
a Kopete problem and not a Ubuntu package spesific one.

Sorry to spam the bug tracker. Either of the changes in comment #2
should solve this problem. The reason they weren't working for me was
only because of how my local system is configured.

Actually, using nomodeset and the vesa driver as explained in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/447892
works better, than the acpi=off. My sound now works and the power button
doesn't switch it off immediately.

first i had to go to virtual console using ctrl+alt+F1 and login and write this
command
encrypt-mount-private
then uses
sudo /etc/init.d/gdm restart
after that i can login to gui
my home folder is encrypted
