Binary package hint: nvidia-settings
In Karmic, the nvidia-settings package does not depend pkg-config but
when you click the "Save to X Configuration File" in the "X Server
Display Configuration" page, the nvidia-settings application tries to
invoke pkg-config and fails.

I appear to have had this problem as well - pidgin crashes with this

Karmic (i386 alternate cd) install (no upgrade) using LVM2 with
snapshots.

IMHO ubuntu should, if possible, switch to the official openoffice
codebase, that does not have the bug and that seems to be more
responsive on bug reports. The subscript/superscript bug was opened on
Ubuntu in June 2009 and at Novell (go-oo does not have a bug tracking

Since updating to Karmic, X seems to freeze after resuming from suspend-
to-disk or suspend-to-ram. The screen remains black, apart from some
distorted patterns at the bottom of the screen, and a mouse pointer is
visible, but does not move. Killing X by pressing Alt-SysRq-K
