I figured out why the debdiff appeared to be reversed, although it
wasn't.
The Debian maintainer switched from no patch system to dpatch. When you
do a debdiff of such a change, the changes that existed in .diff.gz

I copied the smb.conf from my old setup, where I used KVM and had
several vnet's. This line in smb.conf allowed me to share files only
with my virtual machines:
interfaces = 127.0.0.0/8 vnet0 vnet1 vnet2
I did not setup kvm that way again, therefor I had no vnet0-2
while trying to video/audio chat in empathy, here's the output.

Yes, the bug is reproducible and there are not any specific steps. In
other words,
I download a torrent file, load it in Transmission, the downloading is
completed and after some time Transmission stops seeding it.

The freeze happens on the karmic 9.10 amd64 and i386 install CDs... both
when you go to install... and when you go into 'try ubuntu without
changes'.

The same happens in kubuntu (KDM). ssh sessions to the server will set the
LD_LIBRARY_PATH (set in .cshrc here). When using the server over XDMCP will not
set LD_LIBRARY_PATH. As a workaround, I added the path to konsole
(Settings -> Edit Current Profile -> Environment)
