I have a similar error. I upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10, NOT a fresh install.
Hamachi was not working so I performed a hamachi -c /etc/hamachi to see its

correctly installed. But I tryed to reinstall from kubuntu karmic rc1 cd again

Assuming that user.log is what I'm supposed to attach, here is what it
shows after - was added to the options in the init script, then
defaults got system mode re-enabled and the init script was launched.

separate partition and marked noexec. (I've just done this.)
