Tested the revised patch both on systems that had no working brightness
keys before ubuntu6 and those that did to confirm proper brightness

I tried the linux-rt 2.6.31.9.10 (headers - 2.6.31-9.152) in 64-bit 9.10

ACPI DOS value to 0, which lets the OS handle toggling of display output
but still leaves the BIOS handling brightness levels automatically when

In the gnome-power-manager this property is used in gpm-brightness-
hal.c, but not in gpm-brightness-xrandr.c. I am not sure how it works -
are there two ways to set brigthness, one using hal and another one
using xrandr? My system uses the functions in gpm-brightness-xrandr.c

In reality it's a linux bug, meaning that the sound driver can be modified
to work around broken hardware. PulseAudio can be tweaked for your
particular hardware (and only yours -- it cannot be a global change for all
users!) by using volume = ignore for the desired mixer elements.

I just realized that I'm wrong. If data given in attached file are
transmitted using SSL, there is no problem. After looking at the source
code of papyon (0.4.3), it seems to be the case as authentification is
done by connecting to https://login.live.com. Sorry for the disturbance.
