Also, when updating images in Virtualbox of ubunto the
'VBoxLinuxAdditions' are wiped out and need to be re-installed. This is
true of both VBoxLinuxAdditions-x86.run, and VBoxLinuxAdditions-
amd64.run.
Updates that re-write the generic kernel do not take into account user
installed programs.

the Mobile Broadband profile ("3 Internet 1", in my case) and recreated
it. Now I can edit it. It might have been an issue that depended on

I can confirm this bug on a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop with ESS
Technology Maestro hardware.
On start up, the sound level is reduced to 0, to get sound I have to
increase the volume level rather than unmuting it.
I'll try and give more details/info when I get back to laptop later
today.

I have the same issue. looks like root can't run:

or

I've forced it by making it run under my account using sudo.
Sidenote: didn't think &> was supported in /bin/sh. Results in extra

I can confirm this bug but could not confirm the workaround. The only
workaround that worked for me is to set the backlight control in the
bios to "user control" instead the default, because then the brightness
is not reduced on battery.

CD. Used my old home folder/account, and booted back into Ubuntu. Sound

I can confirm this bug with karmic rc1.
It's a regression because in jaunty it worked very well.

The change in fact introduces a bug for Bangladesh :(. Currently because
of the update it shows me UTC +6 as my timezone while it is actually UTC

have no plans for supporting different orientations.

I think that's a good plan. The only new upstream version for the syncs
is libgetopt-java, and that is merely added translations. ACK #1.

why the Ubuntu team felt the need to screw up something that worked
perfectly fine is beyond me. i went from being able to simply being able
check off the programs i want to having to click and then choose install
for each and ever program. just plain stupid!
