Ok after much debugging it appears there is a bug in the elevator
affecting the merging of read-ahead requests. This is exposed horribly
by the sequential scan of the FAT as required to calculate the current
free information for a FAT filesystem on first mount. I think we have
it nailed and have

The problem could be that clamdscan uses clamav daemon to scan for
files, but clamav daemon runs with user clamav, which doesn't have acces
to your files in /home/imi (because /home/imi has 0700 permissions
probably).
You could consider using clamscan instead of clamdscan for scanning
files in

something like this:
- usermod -a -G imi clamav (this puts clamav user in the 'imi' group)

Added Fix:
I checked Glabels Website. Version 2.2.5 is available and fixes all
issues stated above. It is not available through Synaptic, but can be
installed through GetDeb.
Before installing, be sure to remove old Glabels and old Glabels Data.
So there will be no issues with dependencies.

confirming. After last alsa-utils update:
On alsa start most of the channels are muted, and soundcard switches are reset.
I was able to reproduce this by:
sudo service alsa-utils restart.

Unfortunately the bcm5974-dkms PPA module is delivered as full text
source, not as a patch against some underlying kernel source. So when
comparing that file to the one in the current kernel, and as I don't
know the common ancestor, I don't know which modifications were
introduced in the kernel sin

Strike that. The hack causes fatal error on reboot when the system
attempts to load X-server the screen begins flickering and issuing a
permissions error and continues flickering until reset button is hit on
the machine. I can no longer boot into my Karmic partition and cannot
access the data on it

gstreamer-based applications (Rhytmbox, Totem) do not show playing
"time", and don't allow seeking the file.
Expected: file seeking while playing, "time" column shows files' lengths
properly
