Thanks for reporting this. Checking kernel/power/suspend_test.c shows
that:

reason why this happened. I suspect it is a user space application error

I get this as well. Indeed it's intended to be able to just press enter,
or typeahead your user name, but it recently broke.

Manager still throws 407 Authentication Errors, even after clicking the
"Apply System-wide" button again, and a reboot.

I'm back to 2.6.28 kernel. I don't care about the graphix for now. As
long as DKMS works, WIFI works I'll manage this resolution.
