My problem went away after I removed a bunch of my user's stuff from
/tmp, as I was havign a whole lot of profile-related issues with opening
the xterm, firefox and update manager.

Till, HP's proprietary plugin was installed before I ran hp-setup(actually, I'm
pretty sure that the auto-tool launched hp-setup as I got the same wizard),
I'm not sure what was wrong, but something was wrong with the default
installation process (as it just didn't print).

on Jaunty and Metacity the problem is now different !
In fact the window doesn't appear in the taskbar when it's closed (ok) but it

saiahwarnke, I had a look into your error_log and most jobs for the LJ
P1005 did not show any error in the logging, all processes closed
successfully, nothing errored out, crashed, or got killed by you. Only
on the first job it seems that the backend was hanging and you have
killed the job. For me
ping times when the network is idle. The Router is a FritzBox 7270. The
same problem occours when i disable the draft-n mode.

I'm having similar problems with a Western Digital 1TB USB drive. When I try to
open it in Nautilus the drive light flashes but no window opens. Also in a
terminal tab completions don't work when attempting file operations. Though ls

Just to help you, you need to install firmware to make this printer
work.
The fact that it isn't included by default is sad and reported many
times.
I have that printer.
To install run 'hp-firmware' in console, and follow instructions

I think there may be an issue here in terms of implementing a greyscale
power icon. Wouldn't this icon also be visible (and look out of place)
in the dialogue you get when pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete? Alternatively the
icon could be hard-coded into the applet. This would look out of place

Actually I managed to upgrade the distro from Jaunty to Karmic.
So the "noaccel" option was left at custom value set to true.
The system launched and is running.
