Thanks for these suggestions.
The first suggestion introduces a new term, the "User Selection List".
What is the user selection list? It's the screen for choosing who will
log in. That definition isn't much longer, so it's cognitively simpler
just to say "the screen for choosing who will log in".
That wouldn't change anything concerning this bug. The images themselves
look ok-ish (yes, gradient banding is visible like described in the
other bug) when used as GDM and session backgrounds so it's just Xsplash
doing something wrong.

If you have an up-to-date kernel in Intrepid or Jaunty, you should have

Hi,
Sorry for my tardiness, I missed this thread. I'll let Karmic have a
go today.
I believe it is fixed, since I did a Karmic re-install and the default
behaviour of suspend on low battery.
I believe I have seen some quirks - like hibernate immediately after
resume from suspend... But I'll be
problem is missing exception handling for various dbus method calls. I
think this requires some effort to for real everywhere as the dbus
method calls are spread all around the code atm.
