Just so there's no confusion, that patch in the RH Bugtracker is for the
5716S (GigE over Fibre), whereas I need the 5716 (GigE over Copper). I
just couldn't find a patch adding exactly that (it probably came with a
new release of the Broadcom driver).

Ubuntu 9.10 boots 35 seconds slower in late september than in ea
Ok, new I just found out new thing. I was able to change display
brightness while I was unable to do anything else. (Fn+F6/F7) but no
other key worked, only this 2 combinations. Any answer about this bug
would be great.

May not be cairo-dock's fault... it might be just that the animations
being triggered at a quick succession this happens.
And when i use the workarounds [using cairo-dock's/panel's workspace
switcher] , it takes me a bit longer and the graphics catches up ,
hence not causing a crash.

Yep, upgrading kernel fixed it.
Obviously this machine was upgraded from jaunty using 'do-release-
upgrade -d' which for some reason didn't run the new kernel.
