get a Kernel OOps. When using it in this state I get a corrupted

I never see this problem on an older HP nc6120 notebook running Ubuntu

desktop. The gnome-panel doesn't show up anymore and sometimes the
terminals that are saved in my session don't have focus. So it is hard

A proper reboot with todays updates seems to have made this problem
vanish. Xorg is back to 4-8% CPU time even with composer enabled.

Since i upgraded to latest version (using update-manager yesterday), there are
some error/warning messages during boot regarding unknown/invalid kernelparams
for udev.

gdm-2.20 2.20.10-0ubuntu3 reports that "module i810 not found" then
offers to run a low-resolution X session ... which then fails to launch.
Meanwhile, neither gdm 2.20.10-0ubuntu5 (from earlier during the Karmic
developent cycle) or gdm 2.27.90
PS: I forgot to mention, this hardware does not use the X i810 module
anyhow. It uses the common intel module instead, so something in this
gdm-2.20 definitely makes an incorrect assumption.
