i did some testing
with two screens attached to the primary card and xinerama turned on, it
crashes X when I try to switch to the terminal (alt+ctrl+f1), if i
finaly make it to the terminal it only shows me a blinking hardware
cursor on the second screen.
when I start X with the "-retro" option f

I think we get into the realms of Unix philosophy at this point.
What actually needs to be fixed is the ability to set permissions on
network ports and other 'root only' system facilities. Then rsyslog
could be started as a non-privileged user and still get the facilities

Up to date Karmic, this still happens. On resume, I lose the window
decorator and the desktop doesn't seem to work, but I still can change
Virtual Desktops when I rotate the mouse.

I couldn't agree more, and that is why I say that this work-around will
be broken once rsyslog's privilege drop code has been rewritten. As
stated in the wiki, the current solution is a quick and dirty one,
provided only because there seems to be some value in providing it over
not providing it.

utils, run asoundconf, and then let alsa-utils be upgraded again. But I

bufrtables fail to compile.

I had suspended the computer a few hours earlier, and when I tried to
resume the session it rebooted.
This is Karmic (Alpha 5). I've generally been very happy with suspend
and hibernate on this machine on Jaunty, but I find Karmic a lot less
stable.

Same problem here. Jaunty 9.04 on Dell Vostro 1510 from livecd
installation. No Wubi. I don't know whether that matters, but the
machine has dual boot. The sda4 partition is ntfs.

The shell wrapper to set MOZLIBPATH depends on shell ordering of
xulrunner dirs to work which is fragile and probably broken. Alexander
suggested that it should use the standalone glue instead.

and with both of them i get a freeze of the 2 browsers, so i assume it

code seems to be ready for this. oddly the m4/libxul.m4 does not provide
any --with switch ... so the confiugre.ac should use LIBXUL_INIT
([embedding])
in turn the .real hacks should be dropped.

the application adding window interface to add gcompris and the edubuntu
primary package.
All the primary packages I have tried have started and worked fine
(TuxPaint, TuxMath, TuxType, Marble) but gcompris and gcomp
Unfortunately, the patch is not accepted upstream.

This may be a little dumb, but as I look at the man page for notify-send, it
specifies a "-t" parameter, and I don't see the reason why that parameter
exists without me having the possibility to use it. Is there any way that I
could use that parameter? Can I choose to use notify-send with something
