I did the "update-manager -d" thing with 9.04. Now the laptop is filled with

shortly (~1min) after X11 came up, the hole machine hangs with the wlan
blinking.

I followed the information in the Debian bug report ; I downgraded
perlmagic from 7:6.5.1.0-1.1ubuntu3 to the version of Jaunty
6.4.5.4.dfsg1-1ubuntu3.1, and it solved the issue ; I can now save my

I can confirm that this occurs both with and without compiz running.
The settings can be overridden in gconf-editor but the settings UI does not
update and is still not functional.

I have this problem too
If a WM other than Compiz or Metacity is used the workspace switcher
applet only shows the current workspace and cannot be used to switch
between other desktops irrespective of the setting in the properties UI.

I didn't find the default theme on my computer but tried the similar
Clearlooks. Then I choose Customise and clicked on the tab Colours.
There I clicked on the Windows/Background setting to get to the "Pick a
colour"-window. Then I used the settings as in the screenshots attached.

Bryce, i don't see any corruption, but just get a black screen, to reproduce:
* disconnect external screen
* open gnome-display-properties
* press detect displays
* connect external screen
* press detect displays
* get two black screens, frozen mouse pointer on external screen

After speaking to Riddell, here's what we've found out:
dpm: ok it'll be because we patch system-config-printer-kde (I
write it for Kubuntu and sync back to KDE when they re-open their
archive) so our .desktop file doesn't match up to the translations in
KDE
So we've agreed that the best option
ok I up0dated the bug for 1.1.18 it was released yesterday i think, but
either way i was gone when it was released. I'm going to try and have
