This is still happening for amd64 / x86_64, presumably because Jaunty's
xorg-driver-fglrx package is still 2:8.600-ubuntu2. Symptom is 100% CPU
taken by the X process on one core when launching gnome-display-
properties. Also terrible problems with OpenGL screensavers.

settings and I changed the "On Battery" from Hibernate to Suspend and

Good catch indeed. Ubuntu's D-Bus policy file was not the same as

desktop effects or not. And that the fix suggested above of "unlocking

This bug is very old now (since Jaunty has been released). Apparently it comes
from Xinerama, I searched for a fix every day, still nothing :(
Sometimes, even when there is no application starting, the cursor is
visible on a screen and acts on the other one. And I have to kill X to
Excellent stuff... I assume we will see this fix in Karmic?
Was this a particularly sticky problem to solve correctly... I'm sure it
would help a lot of people to understand the process and how bugs like
this in both LTS and non-LTS releases are handled.

I can confirm John Squibb's observation. I upgraded from 8.04.3 to 9.04
two days ago and I have seen this behavior several times since then. I
didn't apply the patch, so the bug doesn't seem to have been introduced
by it.

I can confirm this with current Karmic. Changing the lock settings in
gconf-editor have no effect. The screen is never locked after resume.
