Could you please test this on Karmic? Please note package in Karmic is
compatible with a newer python-support version than the one in Jaunty,
so it won't work out of the box if you install package from Karmic on a
Jaunty box.

The latest GSPCA version is OK with 2.6.31-3.
I made a first submission to the GSPCA (webcam driver framework upsteam)
maintainer who in turn report several things to change in the driver. I made
the changes and this "proof of concept" driver seems to be OK with the two
sensors that were tested.

Something like this. "udevadm test /devices/.../" (the sysfs path) will
show the matches and commands run.
Unfortunately the original lsinput/ udev dump logs don't match your
current USB setup any more (event7/event8), so I had to
