on one of my machines I run into the problem that network-manager does
not find system wide configurations.
I can enter system wide configurations, but then network-manager does
not use them, and if I run nm-connection-editor again,

and 8.04) there were 2-3 entries for different locations within St.
Louis, and now there aren't any choices for the city at all.

I can confirm this bug. Updated from Intrepid to jaunty and all Third
Party entryes point to Intrepid!
