I replace "splash quiet" by "debug" in boot line to get the crash
backtrace. You're probably missing the beginning of the backtrace but
when this happens, I have no control over the laptop (LEDs are are

I ran into the same problem (the update to libgnutls13 2.0.4-1ubuntu2.5
broke LDAP auth, due to the certificate chain no longer validating).
The quick fix was to set TLS_REQCERT to allow in /etc/ldap/ldap.conf,
but that is just a temporary workaround.

I have added "processor.max_cstate=3" to my default grub options, in
order to try and fix the issue described here:

After first boot, everything works fine, and
/proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/power and /proc/acpi/proces
One possibly relevant comment: the solution described on the thinkwiki
page, of editing /etc/modprobe.d/options and adding "options processor
max_cstate=3", then running update-initramfs, does not work: the
max_cstate is set to 8 as normal.
