Woah... this is weird.
I have a Jaunty (9.04) machine. I tried upgrading it to Karmic (9.10),
and I got THIS in the middle of my upgrade:
Setting up cups-pdf (2.5.0-4) ...
* Reloading Common Unix Printing System: cupsd[fail]

Dear Till, thank you for your prompt response! I am terribly sorry,
there was indeed no problem with the driver. What fooled me was printing
from PDF file where "Global" settings in print dialogue (number of
copies, collate copies etc.) are document specific (are being stored on
per document basis)
Unfortunately I seem to already have the latest fglrx driver (2:8.600)
so I suppose I will just wait until there's a new version available and
hope it fixes the issue, I can live with the issue actually, still
prefer it to switching off compositing ;-)

Tell you what. Go ahead and mark it as invalid. I'm planning on
upgrading it but even if it does reproduce, it may take forever. If I
ever see it again, I'll report it against a newer kernel version or
reopen this bug report, as applicable.
Cheers,

The related upstream bug report, http://bugs.python.org/issue1424152,
appears to have some patches in it.

I really wonder how this managed to slip the jaunty update of libxcb
today it's a simple bugfix that was accepted directly upstream. And
it renders jaunty and intrepid unusable for remote X.

Okay, I've been messing around with the .deb, and I made a patch that
builds SpiderMonkey with UTF8 support. Can I submit this to the package
maintainer?
I don't have a lot of experience with this, so please let me know if
