I'm experiencing this problem from time to time on my laptop.
OS: 9.04 64-bit
laptop: Acer Travelmate 5530G.
Both the keyboard and touchpad is unresponsive at the gdm and the only
way to resolve this is to reboot the computer.
If I plug in an external usb-mouse then it works correctly.

I have actually been using this driver for quite a while (it is in my
own PPA). However, as the bug is not caused by the Nvidia drivers, it
is unaffected. It seems, though, that the bug is fixed in KDE 4.3.x.

fix can't be backported to stable, only major issues and security issues

The only proper fix for this (as Zygmunt Krynicki already pointed out)
is to write a C client that can then catch SIGINT early. The problem
with python is that during startup we can not install a SIGINT handler.

my current computer stopped working and I'll get a new one in one week or
so.
The current computer will be replaced by a new graphic card and MOBO.
The GPU will be the same as before so it should not effect the testing.
