I can confirm this behavior.
It happens because the original author placed a details button for the
notification. in jaunty the whole notification system was replaced by
notify-osd which does not support this feature. so, a message box gets
shown.

What's going on is that the menu item Application->accessories->terminal
has a desktop file that tells that menu entry what to do when it is
pressed. It is told to launch a gnome-terminal.
I believe if the desktop file for that menu entry gave a command for the

I managed to fix the problem. I suppose the pulse audio had some sort of
problem, but I switched the sound playback for music and movies from
autodetect to ALSA (System->Preferences->Sound). I don't know if my
pulse audio works properly or not, or what caused the problem, but we're
all good now so
Same exact problem, but different kernel. `hdparm -Y /dev/sdb` worked
on 2.6.28-11-generic, but I just updated to 2.6.28-13-generic and I am
getting the same behavior as described above.
