After a fresh install of Karmic Alpha 2, I've noticed a bunch of

present on a second machine, which is running karmic but was upgraded

For intel users experiencing this, this is probably fixed by a bug in
drm-intel in the linux kernel, and was fixed with 2.6.30-rc5 (2.6.30 is
now released). For me upgrading the kernel fixed this problem.

The above change of 60-persistent-storage.rules as Simon explained, in
my case, makes one of the partitions disappear from /dev/disk/by-label
and /dev/disk/by-uuid. As a result, my boot partition is not get mounted
(which makes problems only upgrading the kernel).
# blkid | egrep sdd
/dev/sdd1: UU
The help page is vague for cdrskin but adding 14 or so "-v" gave me
this:

When I was running 8.04, I did a dist-upgrade via the update manager.
Everything worked without a hitch, except from that moment on, the
system would just hiccup for a brief second. This does not affect every
application, but most are affected.

going to effect most users first day using Ubuntu, but rather is limited
to people who use themes not shipped by default.

disk mount applet don't have a trans
well... i think it's a very bad idea.
most user, on other os, use the navigation arrow.. remove them, mean annoying
lots of new user on linux.
i even use them very often, without thinking about it. And if you look how
people use win95->vista, you'll see they use it everyday.

Not a 'paper cut', a small, subtle, design issue, but rather a specific
problem probably related to your hardware.

I was checking the space size in a directory, here it's the ouput:
andres ~/facultad/probpln/proyecto/exp_1/ancora.2 $ ls -lh
total 942M
Show Desktop plugin isn't used in Ubuntu by default, so the exposure of
this bug is limited to a relatively small user population who install
CCSM.
This means it is not a 'paper cut'. Don't worry though, this is still a
valid bug.
