i was on your other bug report but ill post here too, since i am running
an intel chipset too, on a dell inspiron 1525n. the laptop was
preinstalled with ubuntu (7:10), so all the hardware should work fine
and be compatible with open standards. the laptop was upgraded through
8:4, 8:10 and now 9:4.
The glxgears seem to have no significance at all, I usually had a more
responsive Desktop when the glxgears performance was "worse".

Fair enough, but realize that the the hardware currently triple-boots
(Windows XP, Ubuntu 8.10 Desktop, and Ubuntu 8.10 Server). So, whatever
is different in 9.04 isn't a problem in 8.10.

Something strange happened, later I installed Vista as I want all
hardware drivers, then I found Vista was not convenient for me, so I
reinstalled Ubuntu 9.04(with latest updates) and the problems gone, I
recall that in Vista I flashed BIOS using the latest driver from
HP(also, the version is F.0C)
oopsey instead of marking invalid pressed the wrong link sorry .. 3.1.1
is in karmic repos

9.04 freezes cannot use mouse or keyboard. Games do not load. Tried fixing all

Turns out, here in Karmic I've had the same problem in both the plasmoid
and knetworkmanager. It continually attempts to connect over and over to
no avail. I rather liked the plasmoid, but to fix the problem (as
someone else suggested) I did "sudo apt-get install wicd", then gave it
a reboot.

Unless/Until someone marks this as a duplicate, I added this post this
morning to the other bug thread on how to gain wifi back. Unfortunately
you lose knetworkmanager and the plasmoid applet but you should atleast
have wifi (which I personally can't live without on my laptop).

I'm so sorry for this but report, I shouldn't have put it here, here how I
fixed the problem
at first I thought the the problem was in ubuntu, but as I read the log files
that you ordered, I noticed that its something about unloaded modules, so I've
googled the acpi scripts available to control
Same for me, also with Jaunty. This has never happened before the
upgrade to Jaunty, and even now it mostly occurrs when I queue songs.
Btw: I am using the old Amarok 1.4.
In some forums on the internet I found the hint that this bug occurrs
when the system is under heavy (I/O) load, and although
It's annoying that this problem is still not fixed. It seems it has
something to do with cameras which support PTP (Photo Transport
Protocol) AND registering as a mass storage device. I think there was in
2005 some disscussion on the gnome-volumemanger maillinglist.

If what you say is true, then there is indeed no bug in Network
Manager. Rather, there is a serious design flaw. In no circumstance
should NM report that there are no active network connections when
indeed said connections are active and healty.

When upgrading to the 2.6.27-14-server kernel yesterday, I could verify
that this bug is still there. Bryce, I asked you before: Can we move
this away from "incomplete"? I'm certain that this has nothing to do
with the xorg.conf, so I removed the corresponding tag, but just in
case, I attached it.
Flashing BIOS did not fix problem for me. Flashing BIOS was the first
thing I did on my HP 6730b.

I originally reported this based on my experiences on my 6-year-old
desktop computer, using an LG DVD burner (I can look up the actual model

Today I burned my first DVD using my laptop, a Lenovo T61 which uses a

I have the same problem: in Jaunty the Creative PC-CAM 600 webcam does
not work anymore. This is a fresh Jaunty installation. The webcam was
working in a previous release such Feisty so the bug is a regression.

Did you modify your xorg.conf i.e. as a workaround for the Intel driver
performance loss? In case you still wanna try Compiz would you - at a
freeze - press "alt-sysreq-k" many times (5-10) and wait 1 or 2 minutes?
Sometimes I have to wait for the above described reaction, too.

I'm having a problem with this as well, If I try to Suspend to RAM, on
waking up the system has 'lost' it's SATA disks and must be rebooted,
I'll have to do some fiddling to get the exact messages (currently the
system is setup as a media center, and it's difficult to read the
console text on the T

asoundconf, doesn't handle sound card driver with spaces well. Here is
an example:
ALSA device name (from AlsaMixer):

$ lshal | grep -c input.touchpad

This is rather odd.. it seems to actually find my touchpad (which is
good in some respects)..
$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log | grep Synaptics

I also have a 200M chipset on a laptop and have been experiencing the
same troubles. I followed the link that sergks left there and installed
those components, I also installed the newer radeon drivers, but it
messed up my ability to run any GL programs that would run before, GLX
gears runs beauti

I find it rather easy to miss a calendar reminder in Evolution. It
appears that Evolution, 1) only reminds via notification icon, which is
not as noticeable as a pop-up window. Only after one clicks on the
notification icon does a pop-up come
I also cannot hear any other sound from videos, music, etc, when Skype
is running.
I am running 9.04 (gnome version) currently. This also happened with
8.10 (also gnome) too.

The same is valid for other sound card in my PC, Full name is
"ForteMedia FM801-AU" but asoundconf list it as FM801-AU. I missed this
before as it was clear what the card is...
