This solved a similar problem for me. Kernel took 5 minutes booting up
and multiple long running blkid processes using up all the cpu were
present after that. No sw raid or crypto involved however. See bug

I'm experiecing a similar behavior.
When I had intrepid my battery lasted, at least, 3 to four hours (Dell Vostro
1000, 9 cell battery), with Jaunty I'm experiencing the same 10-20 minutos
battery life as Joe.
I've tried running powertop and using it recomendations but that didn't seen to
help.
Yes, I have used 3 SD cards from different brands, it created a
corrupted .Trash folder and the only way to write to those SD cards is
to use Windows.

I didn't really lost my faith in Linux through this, but I have now
around 6GB in my lost&found directory due to this bug. I was running
kernel v2.6.30-rc4, which solved my issues. I just switched back for a

I don't get the same corruption with ext4, but the T61 is freezing,
locking up solid when there is a lot of hard drive work going on. I
started copying files, eventually firefox locked up, and then the whole
computer, I let it sit over night to see if it would come out of it, but
it was still lock
