Ok, I copied my 'GDI-Printer' and called it 'lp'. Then I deleted the old one
and set 'lp' to default.
After printing two single pages from firefox I thought it worked, but the third
page from a pdf-file failed with 'Too many failed attempts.'

backup is now at 64GB and has slowed down to 500KB/s and I will have to
stop it.
Usb is now officially a completely useless backup tool on linux.
just stopped it, dd claims 65GB has been copied avg 1.5MB/s
like to mention that this has always been a very intermittent issue.

as i understand it firefox must use xdg-open etc to open the file
manger.. is it?

nautilus overrides focus when swapping between main
Public bug reported:
QT seems to have an awful performance problem in its interaction with
compiz. While resizing GTK windows is OK, resizing QT windows runs at <
1 fps if the resize is substantial (ie more than 1% change in window
size)
