so I'm not sure whether this counts as a bug or as an instance of imperfect

I also just triggered a crash using the hang.py script from this forum. I just
just switched to ext4 and had to try.

Jaunty uses the settings in "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" to configure the
display resolution at Ubuntu startup. "xorg.conf" settings are written
by "nvidia-settings".
Jaunty uses the settings in "/home/username/.config/monitors.xml" to
reset the display resolution (when you log into your user). The settin
apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-intel, or look in your Xorg.0.log
(search for intel_drv)
The jerky video is probably bug 314928 I guess.

Next time this happens, can you switch to a text console by hitting
CTRL + ALT + F1, login there, and then run
sudo appo
@shawa: xconsole is a good idea. A few questions for you:
1. Is your kernel 2.6.22 or newer?
2. Do you have a multiseat setup?
3. Does the screen shift happen every time something is written to
/dev/console, or only occasionally?
4. Can you reproduce the screen shift on demand? If so, how?

Alex - this patch turns off scans while an A/B/G card is associated to
an AP. That means whatever was in the scan list when the connection was
started is all that the nm-applet (or the nm=-ool) will show you, for

I'm experiencing the same issue with Ubuntu 8.04.
The problem usually occurs when I resume playing Flash audio that's been
paused for a while (e.g. on archive.org's music player). It's like the
song gets stuck on the last bit it's buffered (less than a second) and
just repeats itself very rapidly.

Your logs indicate that you're still using the radeon driver. Also, the
radeonhd driver doesn't even support your card.

I'm not sure what you did to fix it, but it wasn't fixed by using the
radeonhd driver.

I've seen the same situation in Jaunty (both i386 and amd64). It makes
Ekiga completely unusable (I switched back to 8.10).

Oddly enough, after restarting, everything but #3 god magically fixed
(wireless is fine and ATI driver is somehow now activated).
