I believe this is the same issue I ran into with 9.04 after attempting
to upgrade from 8.10. I would experience lockups where the screen was
frozen and nothing moved but the mouse, or sometimes the mouse would
stick too. There was no way out of these other than a hard reset.

To be fair these cards could give similar issues under Xp with generic

It is possible/likely this bug is a dup of

install linux-backports-modules-jaunty-generic from backports, it has a
new iwlagn module which fixed WPA2 auth for me and at least a few others

I've run a few more tests since I wrote the e'mail and I appears that
there is something odd with these encoded southpark episodes. They peg
the CPU at 100% while playback under totem, but barely touch the CPU
with mplayer. However, play back of other files similarly encoded
(640x480) avi/xvid/mp

@Carl: Just to make sure if there is an actual bug here or not; is the
root ownership of /var/lib/mysql the result of something you did, or do
you believe the package manager somehow created that situation?

Is there any progress on this issue? Really, espeak is unusable in
ubuntu jaunty. As i noted above, in alpha6 this issue didn't exist, so
we can just downgrade to previous portaudio ubuntu package.
Also, why this bug isn't noted in jaunty's release notes?

Great to know there is a patch for this - the exact same thing happens

I can confirm this bug. My PC is a Celeron 366, integrated ATI 3D Rage
Pro AGP 1X. I upgraded from xubuntu 8.10 to 9.04 using the Update
Manager. My filesystem is ext3.
- The time between entering my user name/password to displaying the
desktop takes a noticeably long time now, about 50 seconds fo

For simplicities sake I have replaced all usage of "Default" with

I get a segfault whenever I run a qemu-img convert, or copy a large

I've got the 1sec blinking thing too. Kubuntu 8.10 32bit. Can't tell
whether its the same issue as being discussed here.
btw Various flavours of that other operating system which must not be
mentioned does this exact same thing too...so maybe its something more
universal & low-level than just a Ub
