I too am seeing the same symptoms on my DVI external monitor. It seems
to only happen when the computer is being used or any program is
hanging. I would be willing to provide any further diagnostic
information/steps.

I just got the mouse working with restart/resume. I have followed

IMHO this is not a minor issue. Every machine I have installed jaunty on

I just upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10 on two machines and both exhibit the same
problem when attempting to open a root terminal via the built in gksu
command.
The suggestion to use:
gnome-terminal -e "sudo -i"
is not sufficient for me, as I defined a different default profile for the root

I can confirm this too. For me the behaviour started when editing a
recurring appointment in a local calendar. I changed the appointment
from one local calendar to another which hung Evolution on save. It

Unfortunately, I cannot easily do what you asked because of a recent update
to Jaunty resulted in me loosing WiFi connectivity. So I am booting from a
CD of Jaunty 64 bit.
I just ran apport-collect 367557 after I logged out, connected the hdmi
external monitor and rebooted. The problem

Thanks for the report Paolo, i don't get that issue with rhythmbox here,
which version are you using? could you get a rhythmbox log by running
rhythmbox as: rhythmbox --debug &> rhythmbox-debug.txt perform the
operation to reproduce the bug and attach it to the report? thanks in
advance.

A fix that I've found when googling is specify x11 as the video out.
With mplayer you can specify it with the -vo option.
mplayer some_file.avi -your-other-options -vo x11

I have similiar problem on Acer Aspire 5512 laptop in 2.6.28-11-generic kernel.
In 2.6.27-11-generic it is faster.
Ubuntu 9.04 (official update), 32bit.
It seems to be some kind related to input / mouse / touchpad or paraller
port (i dont have any paralel port in laptop).
