Maybe I wrote a bug report too soon. I think I have worked around the
problem now. I rebooted and ran Adept. After fetching a new package list
I could do an upgrade, and it seems that it has now fixed the packages
that could not be upgraded in the dist-upgrade.

In the meantime, is there a version of that old kernel floating around
that I can downgrade to so I can get my 3D working again? My Mac is

I am also experiencing this issue, but I have ASUS X71A Notebook with
Intel Mobile 4 integrated series. I have changed my window manager to
Metacity and I get almost instant response, so it seems the bug is tied
down to so Compiz. I have removed most of the extras in compiz-config
and also applied
