You you need kde4.2+ (from backports) on intrepid/8.10 to use it. If you
get a chance to test it on either jaunty or on intrepid+kde4.2 and kile
from the ppa then please do and report back. If you have a live-cd with
jaunty you can boot on that one and install kile and test.

I can confirm this. The lack of a "Details" console is a pretty serious
regression (IMHO), at least to people like me who like to watch the
output as packages are installed.

I can confirm the same error, it happened during creation of exchange
2007 account.

Personally, I experience this bug in all cases, even with unsecure
networks. But I noticed we don't have exactly the same problem, since
your crashes occur only when trying to connect and mine occur after the
connection is established.

In the logs it appears that SFCB couldn't be stopped after sblim-cmpi-
base was reinstalled. It was probably not running. It may be related to
the extra providers you installed. If sfcb is running OK now, what
happens if you reinstall it now ? If you run "sudo dpkg --configure -a"
?
