I'll confirm having this issue in 8.10 (and 8.04). I thought it might
have been carried over with my settings but I just tested it in a fresh
Intrepid 32bit install (before and after updating) and it hasn't been

Just installed Xubuntu Jaunty Alpha 6 on my Eee 901. From the first
bootup, the internal speakers just output loud static noise.
The lineout sliders have no effect, but the iSpeaker does kill all the

I can confirm this behaviour with the latest 9.04 kernel. WEP and
unsecure wifi works fine but WPA does not.
